1 Hour Suicide Conversation Training

This course is entirely focused on having a conversation with someone you think may be suicidal. We look at the Beyond Now Safety Planning app and the resources to support the person and yourself.

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training

This is an in -depth training course for people who want to thoroughly learn the skills required to intervene through conversation with a person with thoughts of suicide. The course runs for two days and gently eases participants into the concepts, there are interactive exercises to help explore beliefs about suicide, we learn about being flexible in our approach, and we watch and practice. This is a hands-on interactive workshop and participants will leave feeling more confident to intervene with someone who is having thoughts of suicide.

Talking About suicide For aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People

Talking about Suicide is a 5 hour course that teaches people how to support an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander person experiencing suicidal thoughts and behaviours. The course is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous adults, and is only deliverable by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander AMHFA Instructors.

The Youth MHFA course is based on guidelines developed through the expert consensus of people with lived experience of mental health problems and professionals. The course equips adults with the skills to recognise and respond to an adolescent who may be experiencing a mental health problem or crisis situation. Using a practical, evidence-based action plan, Youth MHFA teaches participants how to support an adolescent until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves.

This course gives participants an opportunity to refresh the knowledge and skills learnt during the 14 hour Youth Mental Health First Aid Course. You will gain an understanding of the latest research in the mental health field. Learn the 3 key actions for helping someone feeling suicidal. Work through complex mental health first aid interactions. Practice Mental Health First Aid skills

Adolescence is a time of important change and development. It is also a time when young people are at high risk of developing mental health problems such as depression and anxiety first emerge. The Blended Youth MHFA courses equips school staff, teachers, support workers, parents and other adults with the knowledge and skills to support a young person experiencing mental health problems.

This course is delivered completely online with en e-learning component followed with an instructor-led component over video-conference. In this training, the focus is on the revision and application of knowledge and skills learnt in the eLearning component. The instructor-led component includes large and small group activities, providing participants an opportunity to apply the MHFA Action Plan to relevant scenarios. Learn crisis first aid for suicidal thoughts and behaviours and non-suicidal self-injury and much more.
